About Philip Nelson


Born in 1966, Nelson always showed an interest in woodcarving. He trained in cabinetmaking but after being introduced to decoy art by the late Bob Ridges decided to concentrate on bird carving. He has had solo exhibitions of his work at The Ward Foundation of Wildfowl Art in the USA and at Nature in Art Museum, Gloucester. Recently, Nelson has concentrated more miniatures and has been awarded The Gold Memorial Bowl by The RMS
